Let's see... well, my apartment is super messy and I can't bring myself to clean it. It'd help if my vacuum were at least working half as well as it should, but it's a piece of crap. I want to try replacing the vacuum bag, but as stupid as this sounds, I can't figure out how to open up this thing. A full bag is most likely the problem, but DAMN, how does a Japanese company make a machine that's so hard to maintain??
Yesterday was so extremely hot that all I hoped for was that I didn't stink during class. Takeo, one of my ViewPoint students, made me laugh really hard because we were supposed to practice "where, why, how, when" by showing off pictures like we had just come back from a vacation, such as "this was taken in Washington, D.C. when I was a child." He told this story about one of my pre-made stick figure pictures that had me crying. Something about escaping a shark by riding on a dolphin 'n stuff...
Before I went to work, though, I met up with Jason and we went to 神保町 (Jinbouchou) to look for snowboarding equipment sales. Stuff was on sale, yes, but even the sales price was steep. We ended up only having enough time to get snowboarding boots, and mine were on sale for the awesomely low price of ¥10,000 (a little less than $100). Next is a board, bindings for the boots to fit to the board, and the proper snowboarding clothes... I hope I can get away with spending only another $500... yeah, it's expensive. But if I plan to go snowboarding more than three or four times this winter, it'll be worth it. I'm hoping to be able to go twice a month while the season is open.
This way, I won't spend half of the next Gackt ski trip (should there be one) on my ass. If there isn't one, that's okay, too, because it's GOOD EXERCISE. Learning to snowboard will be something great to add to my list of weird and unrelated accomplishments.
Currently downloading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and boy, am I excited to see it. HURRY UP, BITTORRENNNNNT~~~~!!!
I was going to go to Akihabara today to get that memory stick: すみませんが、メモリスティックを探していて、このタイプが欲しいです。 But last night after work, I went drinking with my favorite co-worker, and woke up way late today with a lovely hangover. Honami and I talked about ALL kinds of shit last night, and it was nice to have some girl talk.
When walking home last night, my snowboard boots slung over my shoulder, I took a super-long way home since it was finally a bit cooler, and didn't find anything that interesting, but this one apartment complex I passed by somehow reminded me of my hometown. It was the only one I've passed by that didn't have asphalt roads. They were gravel. GRAVEL in Japan!! And the buildings looked old and kinda run-down, unlike some of the nice ones around my area. I guess it reminded me of campustown?
I still have a pretty bad headache, though, and I'm not liking the idea of food just yet. I never threw up, though, so to my mother, do not be worried. hehe... The hangover was worth the plum sake that I drank.
There's a bit of drama at home now about some things grandpa left behind in his will, and mom and I talked about it on AIM. The drama seems to be kind of immature, though. There are two things I hate about a relative dying... 1) the fact that the relative is gone, and 2) the squabbling that occurs afterwards. I mean, if you're squabbling because you want a certain item that holds a lot of sentimental value, then that's okay, but if you were counting on getting some money or on selling something because you don't have your own life together and need the help, then that's NOT okay. Supposedly when my grandpa's mother had died, his brother pretty much rolled up to their mom's house a day or two later, took almost everything from her house, and then left the area. The two of them didn't make up about it for TWENTY YEARS. Maybe more... -_-
Mom asked if there was anything I wanted, and I couldn't really think of anything, but I decided to ask for one of their deck of cards. I played lots of solitaire at their house when I was younger. The cards were old, so they were easy to shuffle and had lost their stiffness. It'll be nice to have those.
Anyway, I think that for the rest of the day, I'll just take it easy and then go to Akihabara tomorrow. I'm so happy I have a 3-day weekend. ^______^
